Help Carley get her Bioness

On March 26, 2007 Carley was born by emergency c-section. She was born 8 weeks early only weighing 3lbs 3 oz. After the nurses and doctors ran a series of test on her, they informed my husband and I that she had a brain hemorrhage on the right side of her brain. The official diagnosis is cerebral palsy. The bleeding had stopped, however, the doctor said there could be long term damage. They also said it may not affect her, however, only time would tell. It didn't take long before we began to notice that her left side was weak (if there is a hemorrhage on the right, it affects the left). She didn't hold things with her left hand and she couldn't move her left leg as fast as the right leg. After seeing a neurologist, he referred us to a therapist. At this time, she was only 6 months old. She is now 6 years old, and continues to see a therapist weekly. She also goes to developemental gymnastics. We try to keep her involved in anything that will make her arm and leg get stronger because she is a very determined little girl. She doesn't let anything get in her way and will keep on trying until she gets it. Until recently, she has been wearing a plastic leg brace. The brace keeps her foot stabilized. If she doesn't wear it, she falls a lot and has trouble walking or running. She also says it is very uncomfortable at times. Her therapist recently contacted me saying she was very excited about something new she had heard about. The new product is called a Bioness. The Bioness is an electrical stimulus brace that stimulates the muscle in her foot that is not working correctly. When Carley wears the Bioness, she walks normal and you can see that its working. We hope that the Bioness will eventually strengthen the muscle so much, that she may not have to wear any type of brace again. She only has the Bioness for a few weeks. Therefore, we are trying to raise money so that she can keep it permanently. We are just so excited to see what it will be able to do because she is so full of life and enjoys so many things: basketball, golf, gymnastics, wakeboarding, and anything that involves being outside.
