Carle’s transportation and mobility fund

My name is Carlé Brioso and I am an [afro]Taino scholar in the making from San Juan, Puerto Rico. I'm a disabled translator based on Tohono O’odham land, also known as Tucson, Arizona. I am a fifteen-year brain tumor survivor, present thanks to ancestors Of the land allowing me to be present.

Surviving a TBI came with drastic changes in on my left side, brought a foot drop, and major spasticity. What regenerating the right side of a brain means to me has been a new life learning how to love myself while pushing through chronic pain. 2020 calls us to break all dry spells, bring light to our stories, and ask for help beyond all transnational borders. Thankful for the community who continues holding brave space for all of us dreaming in healing as a possibility.

Global warming directly impacting our collective unconscious and calling us to move fiercely. We owe ourselves building assertive systems of accountability. Only from accountability can we find space for restorative justice. Natural disasters and chronic diseases teach me to be kinder to myself and study care from a gestalt lens. Surviving a pandemic will mean confronting what has been left unsaid as a mode to heal. Will continue studying amending and confronting policy that continues displacing natives holding me safe... Abundantly grateful to be to be alive. I’ve just been a humble voice given access to medicine; blessed with an immense chosen family of healers teaching me about never giving up and continue checking yourself, reading yourself inside out. My healing journey vontiues in training teaching the self about constantly dismantling internalized ableism. Been taking a deeper look into DSM5 and studying how to live in full self-awareness outside of not knowing what's going on.I'm humbly asking communityI to hel an artist bloom. Your investment in my cause never be granted.

This Fund will cover costs for an adapted automobile much needed to get to doctors and therapists. The remaining funds will go towards installing equipment for physical therapy in studio. Thank you for reading, sharing my story already helps me move better. This fund will allow me to stop taking my health for granted, holding healing a full-time job. With reliable transportation, I will be able to work on location as a consecutive interpreter/translator, inspiring linguistic justice advocacy in borderland communities.
