Caring For Kaitlyn

Many of our family, friends, and even strangers have asked how they can help. As difficult as it is to accept, I would like to reduce the burden on my family through donations. The money donated will go to the expenses associated with Kaitlyn’s recent liver transplant, as they are astronomical. To put it into perspective, the cost of an evaluation alone for a liver transplant is $400,000. Kaitlyn has had 3 surgeries performed to complete the transplant safely. Once all of her hospital stay is complete, she will be responsible for lodging for 4-6 weeks to stay close to the surgical center for follow up appointments. Kaitlyn will not be able to work for an undetermined amount of time and will have to apply for Medicare/Medicaid since she is not eligible for private insurance with such a chronic diagnosis. Once she returns to her “new normal” life, she will be on anti-rejection medications daily, frequent follow up appointments, and potentially dialysis 2-3 times weekly for the foreseeable future. Although it is looking to be upwards of $2,000,000, you can’t put a price on a life as valuable as Kaitlyn’s. This is a lifelong journey, but it is life and that’s all that matters. Kaitlyn is our million dollar girl! Anything will make a difference and will be appreciated more than you can imagine. We are so fortunate to be surrounded by the greatest family and friends. We cannot forget the greatest donation of them all: a new liver from an individual with a big heart and a grieving family. Our prayers are with them, too. Along with her Go Fund Me, my parents have opened up a donation bank account for Kaitlyn’s medical expenses at Wells Fargo. If you would like to send a check, please make it payable to Perry Hosier (our father) and put “Kaitlyn Jane Hosier Donation Account” on the memo line. The same applies if you would like to donate cash, but you would just have to go to the bank. This can be done at any Wells Fargo location.
