Caring for Kratzsch

Donation protected
This is Alan Kratzsch, he will turn 83 years old in June.  Alan is a Korean War veteran who worked for the Army Corp of Engineers.  After faithfully serving his country, Alan retired in Bellevue, Nebraska near Offutt Air Force Base.

When the, "1000 year flood" hit Nebraska this week, Alan had just enough time to leave his house with nothing more than the clothes on his back, the oxygen tank he requires to live and his wallet.  The evacuation happened so quickly, he was not even allowed to retrieve his medications.

As have many in Nebraska, Alan has lost everything.   His home and all his belongings are a complete loss. To add insult to injury, he was told today that the insurance he had paid faithfully for over a decade, specifically excluded flood damage and he will not see a single dime from those payments.   His fixed income and current financial strain leave him with nothing to help him start over.

This Friday, he is scheduled to go to the VA for critical surgery.
Alan has put every extra penny he has into paying for his wife's nursing facility, as she needs around the clock care and can't be at home.

Our goal with this fundraiser is to get Alan back on his feet, find him a new place to live, provide him with all the necessities that come with starting over: clothing, furniture, money to pay his bills as well as a small cushion to help him with any other needs that might arise.

Alan is a very humble man and has been seeking ways to pay his bills on his home, even though he has no home to return to.  He has a wonderful heart and has endeared himself to all those in the shelter where he currently resides.

Alan and his wife took in their great-nephew and raised him as long as they could, from the time he was a baby.  This is how we know Alan.  Once it was no longer feasible for them to raise their nephew, my husband and I stepped in and made him a part of our family.  In our eyes, this also made Alan and his wife our family.

After all the good they have done, we feel it's our turn to help them.  This is why we are asking for your help.  Please help us to get Alan the peace of mind he deserves and a safe and secure place to live once again.
