Thank you for taking the time to consider supporting Rebel Sidney Fayola Black Burnett’s caregiving fund.

**Updated March 19th, 2022**

During the last phase of our fundraiser I had two whole months of full time caregiving paid for as a result of the money people gave. Thank you!!!

As some of you may know now, I have finally been diagnosed with CRPS after nearly eight years of dealing with leg pain and increasing disability.

After spending a little over two weeks at the hospital, I am now home again and really in need of care. Currently, I need help to bridge my time between now and when I can get Medicaid long-term care (in-home caregiving).

We are *reactivating my GoFundMe* and need your support. Here are some ways you can help:

  • Please donate to the GoFundMe, any amount will help.
  • Ask your friends and family to offer financial support through email and text

$5 helps me get dressed
$25 pays for one home-cooked meal
$50 pays for me to have support going to and from a doctor’s appointment
$100 pays for one day of care
$3,000 pays for one month of care

GoFundMe is a non-profit, so your donations can be made tax-deductible for 2023. Thank you so much for all of your love and support. -Rebel

The above is an image that shows my leg pain in 2017: since then, it has intensified and spread. I had gone to the OHSU Comprehensive Pain Center in 2017, and instead of investigating the pain in my legs, they focused exclusively on the herniated discs in my neck. As other disabled folks may be familiar—divided into body parts instead of treated as a whole person. Five years later, my neck is better, but I only just got a diagnosis of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome this week.

Over the last few months, the needs of Rebel’s bodymind have shifted dramatically in new ways and they are now needing to raise funds to support in-home care, as well as potentially rehab as a step down before going home from acute care.

Rebel hopes this fundraiser models their values of centering access, interdependence, and community care by asking kind & generous friends, family, and strangers to support their physical care needs. Please consider giving any amount and / or sending this on to your network.

They need $3,300 for a month of caregiving plus additional funds for assistive devices. We are asking for the current amount as a way to cover care and other costs for at least 3 months. They will be going to a skilled nursing facility in late November, and as soon as they are ready to come home they will need funding for home healthcare.

Rebel continues to be passionate about creating culture in meaningful ways and has been doing Disability Justice organizing from their hospital bed. With your support this will help them meet their needs and allow them to continue making the world a better place for QT + BIPOC Disabled people.
