Caregiving bill for Jason

This is my husband, Jason Poellot. He is completely disabled from Muscular Dystrophy, unable to walk, and confined to a hospital bed. His insurance company pays for care giving while I work during the day but, because he requires 24 hour care, I take care of him myself when the caregivers leave. I am usually able to do this with little to no problem. However, earlier this summer, I had a health setback from my diabetes and scar tissue from my heart cancer surgery becoming inflamed. This resulted in me being unable to care for Jason for about a week and we were forced to rely on his care agency. We were hopeful that his insurance would realize that this was an emergency and would make an exception, however, we have now been presented with an overdue bill of over $2000 for the emergency caregiving. Still well under the costs of him having to be hospitalized while I got better, but the insurance company will not budge and now the care agency will no longer send any care outside of covered hours, even if I become sick again, until the "overdue" bill is paid. I know times are very tough right now, but Jason is a good man, a wonderful husband, and deserves the care he needs to safely be at home.
