Jack's GCS
I thought my first meeting with Jack would require sneaking on to a high school campus for a covert meeting during drama club in a backstage hallway. Jack, although he was legally an adult at 18 years of age, lived with a family-of-origin that was dead set against his transitioning, both medically and socially.
Jack is now in his first-year of college and did transition socially. He is a full-time student who takes the maximum number of credits permitted by his institution, in order to get his degree as quickly as possible. He's organizing to improve mental health treatment parity on his campus. And he has two paying on-campus jobs. Jack is saving every cent he can to help pay for his medical care. Even with the money he earns from his jobs, Jack will still need $3,500. I hope we can help get him closer to that goal.
