Careen and I: The Love that Made Me Whole
Donativo protegido
I've struggled a bit with how to write an opening to the story of Careen and I. When I think of the entirety of our story together, I find it truly extraordinary how we have come to this point: being a little over a month away from becoming husband and wife.
Careen is the most incredible woman I have ever met in my entire life. Having been through my fair share of toxic relationships and dating stories here in New York City, I do not say things like this lightly. From the day we met in 2018, there was something about Careen that charmed me so deeply, all I could talk about upon meeting her was how much I wanted to "take care of her."
Though the era of the cinematic "multiverse" trope draws to a close, it could very well be said that there is a timeline in which Careen and I would not be together today. When we first started seeing each other, she was very upfront about her intention to move back to her native country of Jamaica to pursue opportunities in education. We'd actually stopped seeing each other in early 2019 after an...eventful trip to New Orleans, Lousiana.
Careen moved to Jamaica months later, and even though I'd eventually start dating again, there was always a part of me that wondered what would life have been like with her if she had stayed in the States.
And then, SHE CAME BACK TO THE STATES.
We reconnected in late December of 2020. I'd just been on the receiving end of a melodramatic, over-the-top breakup. I went to see her on my lunch break, since I was working at that time in her neighborhood. I learned than an unfortunate falling-out had necessitated her return Stateside, and that she was back for good. We rebuilt our friendship over the next several months, and after establishing our relationship on December 4th, 2021, I proposed to her in December of last year, and the rest is history.
The words fail me at times when I think of the woman I'm marrying next month. Never before have I felt such a complete, full and healthy love in my life. Careen respects me as a man, something that ANY man will tell you goes a LONG way these days. She has been the best travel buddy I've ever had, being the best company on trips between Baltimore and D.C. She enjoys the game of soccer almost as much as I do, and has already made a mark on my nieces and nephews, who adore her. Her presence in my life honestly makes me a better man and overall human being, softening my often rough and cynical edges (if you follow me on X, you know what I'm talking about). We help EACH OTHER achieve both individual and our family goals, and it is always a pleasure to help her reach high things.
Nah, seriously, I'm 6'3", and she's 5-foot-4 and a half.
I get asked to reach high things a LOT.
On July 26, 2025, we will be taking our vows as husband and wife. Though we have the usual wedding registries set up, it was recommended by some friends that we start up a fund here. I do not know what to expect but I've been blessed to have made so many connections in the last few months and years, so we do hope you will feel so inclined to toss something our way. Some of you might know me from my massively viral lunch break video , which was reposted by Elon Musk, Bill Ackman, and several others. Our goal is to get a newer, larger vehicle to grow into, as well as take care of some other things which have come up in the days leading up to our wedding day.
Thank you all in advance for your gifts, and for helping us get our marriage started on the right track. We appreciate it all!!
