Emergency Care Packages for The Bahamas

Donation protected
My name is Matthew Romeo, I'm a DJ from Toronto, Canada (Google me for more info!) I started a new custom clothing business and have been inspired to use my platform for good. My initial goal was to send 1,000 care packages to The Bahamas in wake of the devastation left behind from the recent hurricane. Now, I'd be thankful to be able to send out 100 of them.

My heart dropped when I saw a YouTube video of how BAD the hurricane hit was. I was in my barbers chair telling him how I wished I could do something to help, then it hit me, I could! The idea was born in that moment to send over new clothing for the families, children and individuals in need..

My good friend and president of NATO Canada happily agreed to help me get the care packages over to The Bahamas when ready. A few corporate clients mentioned they would help, but I don't know how yet. I'm not waiting for them and I'm choosing to take action now. These are REAL PEOPLE that need REAL HELP, and fast.

As a new business, funding this on my own would just not be possible. I got sad again, then realized that I'm in a position to buy high bulks of clothing as long as I had the money to buy it. My goal from that point was to involve my community and raise enough money to help 100 people in need in The Bahamas. I know that together, we can make this a reality.

Each care package would have quality items including:

- A backpack
- Hat and/or Beanie
- 2 x Softstyle Cotton T-Shirts

- Stadium Style, Warm Fleece Blanket

Most Importantly - Note of Encouragement or Uplifting Bible Verse

(Other things I may add, depending on amount raised: re-usable water bottle, socks, slides, personal care (toothbrush, deodorant etc.))

Each care package will cost about $100 to produce. I look at it like: $100 = 1 human life and I've decided to personally donate $100 to help 1 person. It's not much, but it's what I can personally do right now. Helping 1 person means a lot to me. The reason this cost is like this is because I don't want to send items people can only use one time. I'm packaging higher quality items so people can use them multiple times and feel proud wearing or using them.

So far there are 22 out of 100 care packages covered. I still need help getting the other 78.

Please donate what you can, whether it's $1,000 = 10 people OR $100 = 1 person. Every bit counts and helps.

If you can afford even less ($5, $10, $20, $50, etc.) every bit counts, adds up quickly and helps get us closer to the goal.

If you don't have money to donate, please share this page and help get the word out. That helps more than you think.

I was once homeless when I first moved to Toronto, Canada and can relate to the feeling of not having much and feeling alone. I'm thankful to have not had to face what these people are facing. 70,000+ people displaced.. like really, that is A LOT of people without a home, just a few hours away from us.

Please, put your money where your heart is and help where you can! Lean in, reach out and let's make a difference!

Thank You
