Care for Carmen

If you've met Sylvia Carmen Torres, then you've had an adventure, you've learned something amazing, and you've experienced love. Carmen is a mother of 4 beautiful children, and the rock of her family. She has truly dedicated herself in taking care of her family and in the community through her work in social services. She is constantly putting others before herself.  Now it is our turn to take care of Carmen, who is in need of serious medical care after a surgery gone wrong.

Carmen travelled to Costa Rica several weeks ago, as many people do, in hopes of undergoing a routine surgery. When taking a simple over the counter medication there is a lengthy list of possible complications, even ear piercings may lead to permanent deformities, and removing your wisdom teeth can lead to irreversible nerve damage. Everything in medicine has the slightest risk of complications, some are tiny and seem outrageous. Unfortunately, Carmen has experienced one of those rare complications, which has placed her in critical condition. As you can imagine, we are completely distraught.

It has been weeks since Carmen has been re-admitted to a local hospital in Costa Rica, and her condition remains critical. Her family has been by her side advocating for her, but her care would be best close to home, in a place where she's more comfortble.

We are asking for you support to have Carmen airlifted to a US hospital near home that has accepted the role of caring for her. Carmen deserves the best treatment through what will be a long road to recovery. If you believe in the power of love, you'd know that being close to home and surrounded by the ones she loves will bring her back to health.
