Cara's Egg Preservation Fund

Donation protected
Two weeks ago my cousin, Cara, was diagnosed with a Myxoid Liposarcoma, which is a rare soft tissue sarcoma. Sarcomas make up less than 1% of all adult cancers, so her diagnosis is a fraction of that one percent.  After X-rays, ultrasounds, CT scans and a PET scan it was determined that the mass was a malignant tumor and needed to be removed and treated.  Chemotherapy is the treatment needed to ensure that the cancer cells from the large tumor in her thigh (about 15 cm in length) do not spread.  However, the chemotherapies that are recommended for a soft tissue sarcoma cause infertility.

My cousin is turning 22 years old next week and having a family has always been something she has looked forward to. Egg preservation is a very costly procedure but most likely will be the only way that Cara can have her own biological child in the future through In Vitro Fertilization (IVF).  This Go Fund Me account will help to offset the cost of the procedure, medication and the initial storage fee, as insurance companies do not cover it. She will go through a series of hormone injections and tests to get the most eggs to develop, then have a procedure to remove the eggs. They will freeze the eggs with liquid nitrogen and store them until she is ready to have children in the future.  Please help Cara be able to have her own children once she is cancer-free and with the man of her dreams!!!!
