Car for Kele

Donation protected
In February of 2018 I was introduced through a short term mission project in South Africa to Kele. Kele is the manager of an orphan care center in Soshanguve South Africa. A place that has 14 employees who look to her for wisdom and guidance along with 130+ children from ages 5-18  who receive care, help with homework, a meal, and teaching about Jesus. Each of these children who come each day have lost both parents, many due to the AIDS crisis that still affects that area. Kele is a force in that community and for the children under her care. She loves them all and passionately does the work that the Lord has called her to. Kele is a light in the dark for these children and this town. She truly shines the Light of Christ in darkness.

Along with this important work, Kele is a single mom living with her mother with 4 boys: 15, 13, 9 and 6. Due to financial strain and being a single mother, Kele does not own a car. This makes her transportation to the orphan care center each day both stressful and quite honestly dangerous. She travels 2 - 2 1/2 hours each way to work. Leaves at 5:00 am taking 3-4 bus type taxis each way. She walks to the bus stand when it’s dark in the mornings and after work when it’s dark again. It is dangerous for her in this part of town. The bus taxis hold up to 10 passengers and she has to stand and wait for each bus taxi to fill up. She often tries to change her route and times of travel so people won’t target her. Abduction is a very real possibility every day for her.  If Kele owned a vehicle her transportation would be only 50 minutes and almost no risk to her safety. She would be home for her boys each evening and be able to see them in the morning. A car for Kele would mean safety, security and ability to do the work the Lord has put before her without this extra strain. She has been working to save some toward the purchase, but the expense of purchasing a reliable car in South Africa is more than many can afford and would take many years to save. Please consider helping us with this fund and allow Kele to purchase a much needed safe vehicle. As a single woman driving alone in the areas she drives, she needs a car that will be reliable.

The Holy Spirit has laid it on my heart as well as others to try to raise money to help Kele purchase this car. It is in no way related to the organization that I went to South Africa with. It is my own desire to see this woman be safe, safe to do the work the Lord has for her, safe to be a mom to 4 boys that she loves and love her. If you heard her tell this story you would see the love that she has for her boys and the children of the orphan care center, the stress she carries each day that she is able do the work and then get home to be with her boys and be their mom.
