Caps for Chemo
Donation protected
I owned a hat store in Georgetown for over two decades. Day in and day out, people were sent to me from various oncology wards because their hair was going to fall out due to Chemo. I lost my mom, dad, and sister to cancer, as well as the founder of the Hattery, John Harrison and the man who taught me how to clean and block hats, Vince Corvelli.
I took the knowledge that they both gave me and started to create my own hats. One day when I was taking my dad for a chemo treatment, all the nurses in the chemo ward came running up to me. Apparently, the other patients and their family members wanted to make appointments with me for counseling because they thought I worked there. The nurses in the chemo ward told me, "You have a natural knack for reaching the patients and family members." They then told me, "This is your calling! We've never seen anything like this."
The two best days of my life so far have been the day I was born, and the day I realized why God put me on this earth. To encourage people fighting cancer.
Caps for cancer is here to bring a ray of sunshine into the lives of people battling cancer. In order to continue our mission, we need your help to cover the costs of materials to create these one of a kind hats.
