Capri’s fight against brain cancer

This go fund me has been set up on behalf my brother Jake and his wife Renee to help raise funds for treatment of their baby girl Capri’s brain cancer.

On the 22nd March 2022, Renee and Jake welcomed Capri Alyce Marshall into the world. Their second beautiful daughter.

Capri was born seemingly healthy, she fed well, reached her milestones, but no one was to know the difficult path ahead for this sweet baby girl.

Towards the end of July, Capri was taken to the Dr because her Fontanelle was enlarged. She was sent in for an MRI on Monday the 25th July 2022. It was discovered that Capri had a tumour at the back of her brain and was scheduled for surgery on Wednesday the 27th July 2022.

The surgery was successful in the removal of the tumour, however the news no parent wants to hear came soon after.

At the young age of 4 months old, Capri was diagnosed with Ependymoma. This is the 2nd most common brain cancer in children but what makes it so rare in Capri’s case is her age. We still don’t know a lot about Capris tumour and what it means for her but what we do know is that there are 2 usual cases for this type of Cancer an A and a B. Most of the A cases are found in children under 5 and B are over 5. Capri’s at the moment isn’t fitting the criteria for the A case but we are still waiting results for more tests.

Capri has a battle ahead of her. It will be a marathon for her and her beautiful family to go through.

Treatments have been discussed but due to Capri’s age there are a limited options for treatments right now.
