Ever since we moved to the Cape from Boston, one thing became apparant about this vibrant community; a love for the arts. I've been inspired to start the Cape Cod Chamber Orchestra and to bring orchestral music to the Cape Cod area year round.
The Cape Cod Chamber Orchestra aims to bring a revitalized, engaging, and unique concert experience to its audience. While traditional repertoire will be central to the experience, the orchestra will perform works of young composers, as well as perform music in other genres. The Chamber Orchestra will work with local community members and businesses to provide music in non-traditional settings and venues, in addition to our regular concerts. Collaboration is key to the orchestra's mission, as it is important to spread music to those who may have never attended an orchestra concert, or who are new to classical music. By building a community around the orchestra, we hope to enrich the lives of many different individuals in many different ways.
My vision is to create an orchestra that not only performs standard repertoire, but also the music of young composers. I hope to create an opportunity for composers to have their music performed, workshopped, and experienced by the Cape community. In addition, given the vast amount of talented music students in this area of New England, the orchestra will serve as training for students pursuing a career in orchestral music. The orchestras will be rooted in education while creating a lasting musical experience for its audience.
The funds raised here will be used to put together the orchestra's first concert series, which will be launched in the new year. Expenses include venue fees, business fees, and payment for the musicians involved.
