After much prayer, discussion with our family and friends we are letting you know of our immediate needs. My sister in law Sherry has written our plea. Thank you for taking the time to read about our great need. We appreciate your help, kind thoughts and prayers. ~Candy and Gene
This is an appeal on behalf of someone I have great love and admiration for who has a pressing medical need. Candy Caldwell is my dear friend and sister in law who has battled Lupus for over twenty years. This relentless condition has stolen much from Candy including her thriving career as a Critical Care Cardiac nurse. She has continuous mounting debt that is no longer something she and her husband can handle alone. Her husband Gene retired from Mooresville Fire and Rescue after thirty years of service. He had a second job after retirement to offset the medical debt, but a serious stroke let him without the ability to maintain employment. Most of Candy’s body is effected by Lupus, but she also has CRPS which is Complex Regional Pain Syndrome. CRPS is caused by nerve damage that causes indescribable pain in her leg and foot. The pain level is at the very top of the pain index. She has a spinal implant to help alleviate the pain, but unfortunately that is no longer effective. She has been accepted for a new treatment that may offer her some relief. There are only two doctors that offer this treatment, and thankfully there is one in our area. It is an expensive treatment requiring Candy to spend seven days in ICU? Unfortunately, there is significant upfront expenses that must be met. The treatment is scheduled for August, but there are numerous office visits prior that will require financing. Because of the many years of overwhelming medical expense, Candy and Gene have exhausted all of their financial resources. They have lived in the same home, they drive one vehicle, and all extra income goes to medical debt. Their home is in need of repairs, not for vanity reasons but because areas of their home have become unsafe for them. Candy and Gene have lived their lives strongly rooted in Christ, resting in His provision and giving back in every way they could. They have struggled, but their faith has not wavered. Because they would never ask, I am asking the Body of Christ to gather around Gene and Candy and financially help them with these overwhelming needs. Time is short so please help these two amazing people who have been an extraordinary blessing to many. Time is short, will you them to bear this increasing burden and meet their need?!
