Candice Needs A New Leg
Donation protected
I was born with Spina Bifida and currently walk with the aid of leg braces. I often have to utilize a wheelchair for day to day activities. My right knee has incurred so much damage over the last 17 of my 30 years that it is now time to have it amputated. The government unfortunately only covers certain basic components of the leg and the parts needed for an active lifestyle are very expensive. I am very active, I play a few wheelchair sports (tennis, basketball, sledge hockey). A prosthetic leg will grant me the opportunity to become a more active member of society and propel me forward in my career goals, eventually working towards the ability to become financially independant.
I am also hoping to start training for the 2024 Paralympic Games, and having a leg that bends fully at the knee would benefit me greatly in my training. I would love the opportunity to represent my beautiful country in the Paralympic Games as I am a proud Canadian!
Any and all donations are greatly appreciated and will go directly toward the cost of my prosthetic leg.
Whether you are able to donate or not, thank you for taking the time to read my story!
