Hi I'm Lisa,
April 19, 2017, I was diagnosed with stage breast cancer. Yes, of course, for a moment my breath was taken away. Then I heard a whisper in my ear that said "This battle is not yours." At that moment I picked up my armor which is my faith in God and walked onto the battle field, realizing that this is not about me.
May 8, 2017, I met with my treatment team who discussed with me the type of cancer that was trying to attach itself to me. I was told that I had Invasive Ductal Carcinoma poorly differentiated and that I was HER2+. At this moment still confused I gave this God and allowed my medical team to informed me of my treatment, would consist of six sessions of TCHP every 21 days, followed by a double bilateral mastectomy.
My first treatment was May 23, 2017 and I completed the last one on August 26, 2017. I am now scheduled to have my surgery on October 11, 2017 which will cause me to be without an income during my recovery period. I have no other means of support for myself and my four daughters, two of which are in college and one in elementary school. I need funds to support myself and my family for at several months or until I return to work.
After extensive research, I learned that I am not eligible for FMLA or any type of medical disability or compensation from my employer. In addition, I am experiencing hardships on the heels of Hurricane Irma because of the loss of power and food spoilage. I will need these funds as soon as possible to provide proper care and supervision for myself and my daughters.
