What Kind of Super Hero Can Beat Cancer?

4"What's all this about a super hero that can beat cancer?"
Everyone knows that the origin story of super heroes always involves radiation and a close encounter with an animal of some kind. Very few people know when they are about to be exposed to high levels of radiation, so it's normally kind of hard to plan becoming a super hero.
Lucky for me, I have an appointment in July with MD Anderson's Nuclear Medicine Department. There I will swallow some radioactive iodine so we can take some pictures and see if there's any cancer left in my body.
In preparation for that test I have to go off my hormones and go on a special diet. This means some combination of fatigue, depression, weight gain, and face puffiness.
The Evil Dr. Cancer and his minions The Radiation Kid, Hormonal Imbalance McGee and The Great Fatigue-O have already started doing a number on me.
In order to fight them, I'm going to have to become a super hero. And in order to do that, I need your help.
So we are going to play a game.
The goal of the game is to pick which animal should "bite" me while I'm radioactive, thus making me a super hero.
"Ok. Sounds fun. I'll play your game. How long does this game last?"
The game ends at 12:00am CST on July 2nd!
"Great, how do we pick the animals?"
The first 10 people to donate $25 or more will be the team captains. They get to each pick their favorite animal.
Everyone else who donates will get to vote for which animal they like the best. ($1 = 1 vote)
Whichever animal has the most votes by midnight on July 2nd is the winner.
And I will get a tattoo of the winning animal. A real, permanent, forever tattoo! (This is the metaphorical "bite")
"Wow a tattoo. Cool. What does the winning team get?"
The captain of the winning team will get to accompany me while I get the tattoo! They will also get a one of a kind t-shirt with my tattoo design on it.
The rest of the team will get some really cool buttons or something like that (happy for suggestions) which I will design after I know what the winning animal is. So make it good. :)
What's cool about this project: Even if you only donate $5, you could be on the winning team if you tweet, facebook, email and pigeon carrier people about this project and encourage them to vote for your team.
"All of that sounds really fun. Where does the money go?"
The $8000 (edited: $5500) will help cover the cost of my living expenses for the summer, including insurance, vitamins, a trip to the dentist because radiation is REALLY bad for cavities, travel costs to and from Houston where my doctors are, and things like my cell phone and food.
I am working a little bit, but I can only pull off a few hours a week. And the problem with working for yourself, is there's no paid sick leave.
If I don't make my goal, whatever I make will still be amazing and help ease a lot of the strain of not being able to work full time. If I exceed my goal, I'll use the money to start paying off the medical bills from my surgery.
"But I don't want to make you get a tattoo / a tattoo of something you won't like!"
That's really awesome and I can tell you love me a lot! Don't worry, I will retain final control over the design of the tattoo. That means I can make it look like something I'd want on body forever.
And I LIKE tattoos. I especially love the story behind this tattoo. It symbolizes the three things that have helped me survive cancer this far:
A sense of humor, a sense of adventure, and an amazing community.
