Cancer Treatment for Savannah

In late January, just after her 8th birthday, Savannah started feeling very tired and found it difficult to walk and balance. At the hospital, her symptoms were initially thought to be related to COVID. But when her fatigue and disequilibrium continued and she began having trouble seeing, talking, and swallowing, Savannah went to Phoenix Children’s Hospital, where she was diagnosed with diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG, also known as diffuse midline glioma). DIPG is a rare inoperable cancer of the brain stem that affects approximately 200 children in the United States every year. It was a heartbreaking diagnosis that no parent ever wants to receive. Her family -- including her mom Jacquelyn, dad Clint, stepdad Garret, two brothers, and two sisters -- is in a devastating situation and could use all the support in the world. This campaign will help ease the financial burden of hospital stays, radiation and clinical trial treatments at some of the best pediatric care facilities in Arizona, consultations, recovery, and all the crushing costs of health care of this kind while ensuring Savannah's every need is taken of and her parents can focus on her well-being. Her treatments will help restore some of the cognitive function impaired by the tumor, and greatly improve her quality of life for some time.

 

Savannah is a kind, curious, and silly second-grader who loves to dance, play soccer, do gymnastics, play on her Nintendo Switch, and watch her favorite shows. She sings every song at the top of her lungs and loves to give hugs and cuddles to anyone who needs them. Her absolute favorite thing is to be around her family, including her cousins. She loves animals of all kinds. Her family is doing everything they can to make her feel happy, comfortable, and loved during a very difficult time.
