Cancer Treatment for My Dog Russell

Dear Friends and Family,

As most of you probably know, my beloved dog Russell is currently 12 years old, but still young at heart and full of excitement and love for adventure.  This past summer, we noticed a lump on the side of Russell’s face that multiple doctors could not figure out the cause or identity of. Because the lump grew quickly, he had to have major surgery a week ago to remove it.  A few days later, the lab results came back saying that he has a type of cancer called soft tissue sarcoma. This cancer does not spread, but it is untreatable with chemotherapy so the doctors recommended a special radiation that they usually only do on humans to kill the cancer cells.  Given that the cancer is on the side of his face, it would be extremely difficult to remove it when it grows back. Therefore, the radiation must start as soon as possible before they miss the window of opportunity. Our major concern is the cost of this radiation treatment, which surpasses five figures.  Russell is my best friend and the most loyal companion, and I honestly do not know what I would do without him. His sister Daisy loves him dearly, and our whole family holds a special place for him in our hearts.
