Cancer Treatment for Gavino Hurtado

Hi everyone, we wish we didn’t have to make this gofundme but unfortunately we really need some help. I’m Gavino’s fiancé, and on Friday, July 17th, Gavino had been coughing badly for about 2 weeks prior and coughed up what appeared to be blood that morning. Thankfully, he decided to call into work and check with a doctor to see what was going on, especially due to the current pandemic. He went in for a general checkup, bloodwork, and to make sure he didn’t have COVID-19. While he came out negative for coronavirus, the doctor noticed his white blood cell count was abnormally high and his red blood cells were too low- his hemoglobin was low too. Understandably, the doctor was very concerned and sent him to Tyler TX’s Trinity Mother Francis hospital. After doing various testing, they made the decision to take him to Dallas that night (17th) in search of a diagnosis, as they suspected he may have leukemia. Sadly we got the diagnosis of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in the morning on July 20th. This type of Leukemia is on the rare side so for now he can only receive treatment in Dallas, but they are looking and possibly can find him a good doctor that can manage his treatment in Tyler. He is only 22 and is usually very healthy so this really caught us off guard, but we are trying our best to adjust to these new circumstances his condition brings. He is starting chemo soon, and he will most likely not be working - we are anticipating some heavy medical bills. He will be in Dallas for 2-3 weeks, and then will be able to come home and continue chemotherapy every couple weeks, in Dallas for a week at a time (unless they find him treatment in Tyler which is what we are hoping for). His job is going to try and help as much as they’re able, but we still need help with things like gas, and for things to bring him during his current stay in Dallas as unfortunately due to restrictions the virus has caused I can’t be up there with him. We appreciate anyone who’s read this far, and anyone who decides to donate.
