Cancer Treatment Costs for Dad

On September 8, 2017, my dad as scheduled to have neck surgery to remove a lump in his neck. Just 6 days before his 50th birthday, he was diagnosed with Stage 3 Melanoma. Since then, my dad has been out of work and spends his days driving back and forth to doctor's appointments and consultations. The long drives and caretaking of my dad has required my mom to go on FMLA. While we are grateful to have insurance, each co-pay is nearly $50 every time my dad walks into a doctor's office. With appointments at least 3 times a week, the cost is adding up quickly. Dad is anticipated to have another surgery as well.

For any of you that know my dad, you know that he is one of the most hardworking and loving people. From the time he was of age to work, my dad has put in countless hours of labor to help others. As a carpet installer for over 30 years, my dad is proud to be a part of the working class. Even after being diagnosed with a rare blood disease when I was in middle school, my dad worked with tubes in his chest to make sure my brother and I grew up to have everything we needed out of life. I am so fortunate to call him Dad.
