I have known Dan since around middle school. It is a short list of individuals I have known over the course of my life that I would “vouch for as an upstanding individual.” He is on the list. So, when my Sister-in-Law was looking for someone special to share her life with, Dan came to mind, and I strongly encouraged they meet. Needless to say, Dan became my Brother-in-Law in short order. Dan and Danyell married, had children, bought a home, worked hard, grew in faith, all of the things that a normal young couple would aspire to do in life. They flourished…
Around the beginning of February 2021, Dan tested positive for Covid 19, then Danyell, and then the children. It was not easy, but they made it through the rigors of the virus. They had just pulled out of the uncertainty of that potential peril when Dan started to develop a yellow tint to his skin and felt ill. Dan went in to the doctor to figure out what was going on.
Dan had blood work taken that revealed odd results. The doctor ordered a CT scan. The results bring tears to my eyes and a stabbing to my heart as I write this to you. They found masses and lesions on his pancreas and liver. Further testing revealed Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer.
Dan is a young man in his mid-40s. He is a great husband, father, brother, son, friend, person… what in the world… why in the world… sometimes the world doesn’t make sense… it breaks my heart. He is the main financial provider for his wife and three young children. Even with treatment, even with any kind of resources that they may be able to muster, the hard facts of a reduced income, medical bills, poor health, stress, and the needs of the family are looming over their family. It will be uncertain times and hard to endure.
I am asking for your help! Please pray for Dan, Danyell, and their children.
