Cancer shouldn't cause bankruptcy

When I set out for my goal to run a marathon I knew I wanted to make it more than just that. I wanted to help bring awareness or raise money for a great cause. I racked my brain trying to narrow it to one organization when it finally hit me-instead of raising money for an organization there is an actual family being affected greatly right now and are in dire need for help. A fantastic Special Education teacher I work with had her life turned upside down last year when her husband was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL). She has been super woman juggling work while holding her family together and staying strong for their two young girls who don't quite understand why their Daddy has been living at Slone hospital in Manhattan.  Jay has many months of chemotherapy ahead of him followed by a bone marrow transplant.   I realize you do not know Kathy or her family, but I ask you to please find it in your hearts to help them, no donation is too small.  With the unpredictablity of his treatments comes the unpredictability of increased financial hardships and rising medical costs.  Kathy is the type of woman to give you the shirt off her back, and I am asking on her behalf for that favor returned. Battling cancer is hard enough-worrying about struggling to pay the bills because of it shouldn't also be on her mind.
