URGENT - Help GEN Get home for Clinical Trials of RARE TYPE CANCER!!!
Fundraiser for Geneviève & her family
Presently living in BC, Geneviève is in dire need to get back home to Montreal, QC for a clinical trial of rare type cancer treatment.
Oct 4 - Geneviève needs to take a flight to Montreal. She is leaving her family behind to meet doctors, her new onologists & surgeons to find out what is the best possible available treatment options for type of cancer. Her medical file has been transferred to the Oncology Department of Montreal in hopes they can offer a better treatment option.
While in Montreal, she will complete her 6 months chemo plan treatment and also will meet with scientists at McGill University for research in a clinical trial for her rare type of cancer.
Here is where the journey began:
May 2017, Genevieve received her cancer diagnosis,
<<<<STAGE 4 SQUAMOUS CELL CARCINOMA.>>>>>>
Only a few Canadians have been diagnosed with this type of cancer. She completed radiation and chemotherapy treatments in Kelowna the summer of 2017.
August 2017: Was at home recovering and her treatments help to shrink the 5.7cm X 4.2cm tumor!
The test/scan result confirmed no trace of cancer or any development of the distant metastatic disease.
Elkford August 2017 to summer 2018
Her sons' David and Gabriel helped her take care of everything at home, her husband and oldest son kept working full time for Birdhouse Roofing Ltd in Fernie to provide for the family.
Their family was heavily affected by various obstacles:

>>Work travels to Fernie 140km daily Mondays to Fridays
>>Weather & road higway conditions (closures and heavy constructions)
>>Snow-rain -air quality & sunstrokes & the Wildfires this summer
One way road flight trips FROM ELKFORD - Costs of flights for hospital/medical treatments
>>Cranbrook ---160km ---100$
>>Calgary --- 301km ---150$
>>Kelowna --- 690km--- Calgary airport/flights
>>Vancouver--- Calgary airport/flights--$$$
Then the Wildfires began and the family had to sell some of their belongings to make ends meet as they were working less hours due to the fires. With less income and the money going fast to feed her family of boys, things were looking pretty sad for this family. It seemed like nothing was looking on the bright side for them and kept getting hit with all sorts of challenges. The smoke from the wildfires made it difficult for breathing clean air and they where waiting for word to see if their town was going to be evacuated.
August 2018,
Scan/test routine - Results showed & discovered it had metastasized and spread to the liver, new cancer Stage4 = 2x(metastatic(3cmx3cm )(1.5cm)
Gen has started Chemo in Cranbrook, BC Rockies, September 26, 2018
But it will only slow down the progression, this chemo will not a cure her type of cancer. Hopefully, it will give her the time to find a new treatment which she will be able to fight once again, but only if she responds positively to chemo.
Genevieve needs:
1) IMMUNOTHERAPY
Since July 2018; immuno therapy became a treatment in Canada but there are no clinical trials available in BC for this rare type of cancer (anal squamous cell carcinoma )
2) TARGETED THERAPY
This treatment will be able to target her cancer and hopefully start to see cancer shrink. Will follow by surgery if she responds positively to treatment. She will only find out when she gets assessed in montreal if any possible clinical trial is available for her in Canada.

Their family seems to be getting hit financial from all directions. It's becoming a burden for this struggling family and definitely not helping Geneviève's condition.
Not only is this family dealing with such hardship and disease but they home is in need of major repairs if they are to stay for the winter. (No heat & major plumbing and electric problems )
Please find it in your heart to help this family get some sort of relief by not having to be concerned about Geneviève getting to the much-required treatments available for her.

Levée de fonds pour Geneviève et sa famille
Geneviève vit actuellement en Colombie-Britannique et doit absolument rentrer à Montréal, au Québec, pour participer à un essai clinique portant sur un traitement du cancer de type non commun.
4 octobre - Geneviève doit prendre un vol pour Montréal. Elle laisse sa famille derrière elle pour rencontrer des médecins, ses nouveaux oncologues et chirurgiens, afin de déterminer les meilleures options de traitement possibles pour le type de cancer. Son dossier médical a été transféré au département d'oncologie de Montréal dans l'espoir qu'ils puissent offrir une meilleure option de traitement

Mai 2017, Geneviève a reçu son diagnostic de cancer,

Seuls quelques Canadiens ont été diagnostiqués avec ce type de cancer. Elle a terminé les traitements de radiothérapie et de chimiothérapie à Kelowna à l'été 2017.
Août 2017:Le début de sa convalescence à la maison
Fevrier: Les traitements ont fonctionné la principal tumeur de 5,7 cm sur 4,2 cm est disparu et a été reduite completement ,sa remission alors commenca!
Le résultat du test / scan n'a confirmé aucune trace de cancer ni aucun développement
de la maladie métastatique à distance.

Elkford d'août 2017 à l'été 2018
Les fils de Genevieve ,David et Gabriel l'ont aidée à s'occuper de tout à la maison,malgré tout son mari et son fils aîné ont continué à travailler à plein temps pour Birdhouse Roofing Ltd à Fernie afin de subvenir aux besoins de la famille.
Leur famille a été lourdement affectée par divers obstacles:
>> Frais médicaux et de déplacement
>> Les déplacement hedomadaire pour le travail: 140 km tous les jours du lundi au vendredi
>> Conditions météorologiques et routières (fermetures et constructions )
>> Snow-Rain-qualité de l'air & insolation & les feux de forêt 2017-18
ELKFORD - Frais de transports pour les traitements hospitaliers/médicaux
>> Cranbrook --- 160 km --- 100 $
>> Calgary --- 301 km --- 150 $
>> Kelowna --- 690 km --- Aéroport de Calgary / vols
>> Vancouver --- Calgary aéroport / vols - (600$)
Ensuite, les feux de forêt ont commencé et la famille a dû vendre une partie de leurs biens pour joindre les deux bouts, car ils travaillaient moins d'heures en raison des incendies. Avec moins de revenus et moin d'argent pour subvenir a leurs besoins,la situation était plutôt triste pour cette famille. Deja a ce moment rien n' allais plus du bon côté,ils ont continuer à être confronté à toutes sortes de défis divers . La fumée des feux de forêt ont empêcher de respirer proprement l'air pur des rocheuses et ils ont été en attente qu'on leur dise si leur ville allait être évacuée.

Scan / test de routine - Les résultats ont montré et découvert un developement d'une progression
métastase propagé au foie,
nouveau cancer diagnostique: Stage4 = 2x (métastatique (2cmx3cm) (1.5cm)traitement palliatif pour adénocarsinome jonctionnel gastro-oesophage gastrique avancé ou métastatique.
Gen a commencé sa chimiothérapie à Cranbrook le 26 Septembre 2018, dans les Rocheuses de la Colombie-Britanique.
Mais cela ne fera que ralentir la progression, ce plan de 3-6 mois de chimiothérapie ne guérira pas son type de cancer. Mais espérons que cela lui donnera le temps de trouver un nouveau traitement sur lequel elle pourra se battre à nouveau, mais seulement si elle répond positivement à la chimio.
Geneviève a besoin de:
1) IMMUNOTHÉRAPIE:
Depuis juillet 2018; L'immunothérapie est devenue un traitement au Canada, mais aucun essai clinique n'est disponible en Colombie-Britannique pour ce type de cancer rare ( Squamous cell carcinoma).
2) THÉRAPIE CIBLE
Ce traitement permettra de cibler son cancer et, espérons-le, de voir son cancer régresser. S'en suivra par la chirurgie si elle répond positivement au traitement. Elle ne saura quand elle sera évaluée à montréal que si un essai clinique est possible pour elle au Canada.

Leur famille semble être touchée financièrement dans toutes les directions. Cela devient un fardeau pour leur famille en difficulté et n'aide en rien à améliorer l'état de Geneviève.
Non seulement cette famille doit-elle faire face à de telles difficultés et a cette maladies, mais leurmaison a besoin de réparations majeures si elle veut rester pour l'hiver. (Pas de chaleur et problèmes majeurs de plomberie et d'électricité)
