Serena Di Benedetto - Canada Women Wrestling
Donation protected
Hello Everyone,
My name is Serena Di Benedetto, I am currently a member of the Bishop Ryan Girls Wrestling Team and the Junior Marauders in Hamilton. I am reaching out to ask for your support. I have been wrestling competitively for 2 years and have just finished my grade 10 year at Bishop Ryan. In my 2 years in wrestling for BR I have been very successful; I won OFSAA bronze my first year and this year I was able to take home the OFSAA Gold medal, becoming the youngest female at Bishop Ryan to win the OFSAA Gold. I am also the first female in Bishop Ryan history to be a 2x Canadian Champion.
I am a member of Canada’s U17 Women’s Wrestling Team. I recently won a Bronze medal (for the second consecutive year) at the Cadet Pan-American Championship in Mexico and I am preparing to represent Canada in my first World Championships in Bulgaria on August 1, 2019.
Unfortunately, the cost to compete at the Pan-Am Championship was $3000 for each athlete and competing at the upcoming World Championships will cost each athlete $4500. Sadly, Canada Wrestling does not fund the U17 programs, therefore athletes must self-fund these opportunities in order to compete internationally.
My training commitments do not permit me to take on a part-time job, so I am reaching out and asking if you would consider making a donation to help me cover the costs to compete at the World Championships. Any amount would be greatly appreciated as every dollar would help me get a little closer to being able to compete. It is my dream to wrestle for Canada on the Olympic stage but I recognize I am going to need help to achieve that goal. I hope you will consider being a part of my wrestling journey.
I thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Serena Di Benedetto
