The Canada Camino is a journey of the heart.
On this journey, hikers will hike approximately 160km of the Bruce Trail, connecting with and honouring mother earth and remembering and honouring the Indigenous ancestors and peoples who have and continue to take care of her.
In line with this we also raise funds to support Indigenous right and environmental initiatives.
Our goal this year is to raise at least $10,000 which will be divided between three organizations that we love and wish to support:
Raven Trust has a mission to provide access to justice for Indigenous Nations. Supporting the assertion of the inherent and constitutionally-protected rights of Indigenous Peoples is a powerful pathway towards reconciliation and environmental justice. They have already raised millions of dollars to back some of the most groundbreaking legal challenges put forth by First Nation communities and have successfully halted mines, stopped pipelines, and created better laws.
45% of funds raised will go to Raven Trust.
The Amazon Rainforest Conservancy has a mandate to protect threatened tropical rainforest habitats in the Peruvian Amazon to conserve and restore the biodiversity of species and ecosystems for the benefit of future generations.
45% of funds will go towards the Amazon Rainforest Conservancy
The Bruce Trail Conservancy aims to protect and steward land along the Niagara Escarpment and make it available to explore by foot along the magnificent Bruce Trail. This organization has been named Canada's top environmental charity in 2020 according to Macleans magazine.
10% of funds raised will go to the Bruce Trail Conservancy
