Walk for the Children- Caminemos por los niños

Father MIguel Alvizures with Eduardo Lemus and Ignacio Bautista,  started a pilgrimage from Guatamala, passsing through El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and reaching San Jose Costa Rica, with the purpose of funding a education project in Palencia Guatemala helping poor children in La Montañita School.

The main objective of this journey of 750 miles is to raise funds for the La Montañita School,  which currently has 102 students,  K through 4th grade,  the school  provides Breakfast and Lunch to its students.  

With the current pandemic the raising of funds has diminished,  and Father Miguel,  founder of la Montañita , is facing challenges to fund the 2022 school year.   This is the main reason for this  walk.  He is asking  for a donation of $1  per mile, in the hopes of reaching a $100,000 goal.   

On his way through Central America he is looking to create positive change  so both people and communities create an environment where children can receive not only food for the body but also food for the soul and mind so they can develop into children of God,  and promote change in their countries.   ALL children  have the right of a good education, and the right for better opportunities,  this is why we must sow seed for change.

Father Miguel Alvizures is originally from Palencia,  and because of this 4 years ago he started this proyect where children are thought  english and spanish  and given  breakfast and lunch.   The current building has  capacity through 4th grade, this is why funds are needed to continue with the construction of new classrooms for the school to continue to grow.

Caminemos por los Niños

El padre Miguel Alvizures junto a Eduardo Lemus e Ignacio Bautista, emprendieron una caminata desde Guatemala, pasando por El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua hasta llegar a San José Costa Rica, con el fin de recaudar fondos para su proyecto educativo y nutricional que tiene en Palencia, Guatemala con niños de escasos recursos en el Colegio La Montañita.

El objetivo primordial de esta peregrinación de 1,200 kilómetros (750 millas) es recaudar fondos para el colegio La Montañita, que actualmente cuenta con 102 niños, donde se imparte clases de pre-primaria y los grados de primero a tercero primaria y se les otorga 2 tiempos de comida.

Con la pandemia la recaudación de fondos ha disminuido y el Padre Miguel, fundador de la Montañita, se ha visto afectado y para poder continuar dando las clases el próximo año, ha emprendido esta caminata en la que solicita desde 1 dólar por cada milla que el camine, con la esperanza de llegar a la meta de recaudar 100,000 mil dólares.

El padre Miguel en su camino por Centroamérica busca también crear conciencia de hacer un cambio, donde todos como personas y comunidades, debemos crear ambientes donde los niños puedan recibir el alimento del cuerpo pero también el alimento espiritual e intelectual, para irse desarrollando como hijos e hijas de Dios y por ende ellos también harán un cambio en nuestros países. TODOS los niños tienen el derecho a una buena educación, tienen derecho a mejores oportunidades y por ello debemos sembrar esa semilla del cambio.

El Padre Miguel Alvizures es originario de Palencia, Guatemala, por esa razón hace 4 años empezó con este proyecto, por lo que en este centro educativo se imparten clases en español e inglés y se les otorga alimentación a los niños, desayuno y almuerzo. El edificio tiene capacidad para albergar hasta tercero primeria, por lo que se tiene el proyecto de continuar con la construcción de nuevas aulas para seguir recibiendo a más niños.
