Camden's Heart Transplant Expenses

Camden is an 8-year-old little boy from Brookings, SD that was born with a congenital heart defect that required open heart surgery in Minneapolis when he was just six days old. Due to complications and side effects, Camden has since undergone an additional 5 open heart surgeries and a total of 21 surgeries altogether in his short life. This January, Camden and his parents traveled to Chicago, after being turned down by Children’s Minnesota and Mayo Clinic due to how high risk he is, where Camden was approved to be listed for a heart transplant. Camden will be going back to Chicago to be listed inpatient for a heart transplant and is expected to stay for about a year beginning February 15. This is an extremely difficult time for the Madsen family especially since Camden spent 4 of the last 7 months in the hospital in Minneapolis, most of which was unpaid time off work for Camden's parents, Mike and Stacee, who also have three other young children to care for at home. All donations will go to the Madsen family to help with Camden’s medical expenses, travel back and forth from Chicago, and time off work to be with Camden.
