Cambodian School Survival - Community Farm Plan

Community Farm Project

The New Dream of Cambodian Children Organisation was started by Kimlean Veoun a Tuk Tuk driver in Siem Reap. Everything he earns goes to support the School, with mainly children from impoverished families.

Tourism accounts for a third of Cambodia’s GDP and over 6 million visit Cambodia every year.  So when the Corona virus arrived and the Cambodian borders closed, it was no wonder it was just like turning off a tap. With no tourists for Kimlean as a Tuk Tuk driver and no donations from visiting tourists, the result means the school has no money, which means, no money to run the school!

The school also acts as a centre for the community, and what donations the school now receives is spent on feeding the very poorest of families, whose children come to the School. The Virus has taken everything…, the tourists, the children’s education, their food,  and their future.

So what is the answer?

We believe the answer is a Community Farm producing Catfish & Chickens on an adjacent piece of land by the school which would provide enough income to cover the costs of the Farm, and the school with it’s 3 part time teachers. Details are available on the website, with contact details for any questions you might have.

Local Farmers as well as community leaders have all contributed enormously giving help, advice, & some have even offered to train Kimlean to look after the Farm. Why do they do this? Because they believe in the project, they believe in Kimlean….they believe the school is doing good things for their community …and good things produce good people!

But to build this Community Farm (in order to support the School) they need your support.  And, once it’s built, the school will be able to stand on it’s own without continually asking for your help! .......But right now they really do need your donations to transform this project into a reality.

Please donate and help us build them a sustainable future.
