Cameron's Trip to Perth, Australia

I’m excited to announce that I have been named one of the 24 men selected to represent team USA in the 2018 Men's World Under 24 Ultimate Championships! The selection process began last December when 550 males and females submitted applications where the USA coaches narrowed it down to 100 males and 100 females, including myself, for a second round tryout. The tryout was held in Aurora, Colorado this past June where the top ultimate players participated in highly competitive drills and scrimmages for evaluation. Finally, in the middle of July I was fortunate enough to be selected as one of the 24 members to represent USA for the Men’s U-24 World Games in Perth, Australia on January 7th – 13th, 2018.
I started playing Ultimate Frisbee a little before college, playing pickup with friends and locals around Long Beach. I didn’t start to take it seriously until I got to San Luis Obispo for college and joined their club Ultimate team, SLOCORE. With four years of great teammates, coaching, and experience under my belt, including two trips to college nationals, I’m now blessed with this amazing, once in a lifetime opportunity to represent my country! With the ups and downs of college, ultimate and the guys I played with, were one of the few things I always enjoyed. Ultimate has helped fill the strong competitive drive I've had since birth through team comradery. I had I no idea this sport would take me this far!
The tournament is January 7th through the 13th of 2018, but the USA teams will be in Australia a week early to practice as. The cost of this trip is around $3200 including housing in Perth, tournament food, WFDF player fees, training room and board (there will be a training weekend in Georgia Nov. 4-5), training fields/facilities, transportation to/from airports in Perth (buses/trains), and roundtrip (airfare, bus) from USA to Perth, Australia.
