Don protégé
We adopted our blind little boy Calvin (nee Sosa) from Second Chance Rescue when we were living in New York in 2015. We took him to visit a veterinary opthalmologist at the time to make sure that his recently acquired blindness wasn't causing him any discomfort or pain. It was determined his retinas were completely detached but that his condition was painless.

Earlier this year, Calvin's situation changed and it was discovered that he had developed glaucoma in his left eye. While this condition wouldn't have an effect on his eyesight, it is a progressive and extremely painful condition. We successfully managed his eye pressure levels for half a year with eye drops but the topical medications are no longer working. We must now remove his left eye entirely to ensure Calvin is no longer experiencing pain and can live his best life.

We realize this has been a challenging year (mentally, emotionally, financially) for most everyone. We've certainly had our fair share of personal hardships and tragedies this year and no longer have the economic stability we once had. It's hard for us to ask, but if you have the ability to contribute even $1 to Calvin's procedure we would be eternally grateful. Calvin has been such an amazing therapy dog to so many people over the years (us included!) and it's our top priority to care for him as he always has for everyone else. While we will miss staring into his sweet googly eye, Calvin's quality of life is what matters to us most. We can't wait for him to feel his best again.
On January 6, 2021 we hope you think of Calvin from afar while our lil fur baby undergoes this invasive procedure. Just knowing that so many people care about Calvin's wellbeing keeps our spirits up!
Sending big love and Calvin cuddles to you all from Philadelphia. XO
