Callie’s Adaptive Bike

So we weren’t totally sure how to go about this but with some thought we decided to raise money this way. Please take time to read about this special event and bike that Mary Free Bed is building and providing for our special Callie.

A few weeks ago we had the privilege to attend an event at Mary Free Bed called “Bikes for the Rest of Us.” This is an annual event at Mary Free Bed that allows children and adults with disabilities to be introduced to adaptive bicycles. Callie was individually paired with a therapist and evaluated to determine the necessary adaptations to enable her to have and ride her own bike! How cool is that? I love the way Mary Free Bed put it... “Bikes used to be out of the question for those with special needs but it isn’t anymore.” What kid doesn’t want a bike, right? 

The coolest thing about this event is that Mary Free Bed doesn’t require you to pay anything but they ask what you can contribute/donate. Our goal is to raise the entire cost of this bike so that Mary Free Bed can continue to provide this program to others in need. In the past we have been asked many times how people can help with Callie’s medical needs and we feel that this is a good opportunity if you are able and willing.
