We are so excited to share with you all that our Advance Parole applications have officially been approved.
During the time we were waiting to hear from USCIS, we realized the magnitude of this opportunity. My brother and I have not been able to return to Mexico since he was 8 and I was 2 years old. There are uncles, aunts, and cousins we have not seen for nearly nineteen years.
For so long, Edgar and I would only dream of the day we would reunite with the family we left behind. Now it will be a dream come true. During our academic endeavors, we witnessed many of our peers traveling the world freely while we were unable to even visit our first home. We have recently been reminded of the disadvantages we have after having to wait a 4 month period for our approval. While others can make the personal decision to visit Mexico in one day, we had to wait for other people to determine how we can advance in our life.
It is moments like these that remind us of the many times we had to say to ourselves, "We can't do that" or "That's too risky." Always tiptoeing around in a life where many key aspects were decided for us long before we knew about them. We are reminded that not too long ago DACA was on a limb. Since our arrival, we have lived in fear and it is surreal that now we are presented with this opportunity.
We invite you to support us and be a part of this once in a lifetime opportunity.

* The program's cost per person is $3,575 + a month's worth of personal expenses (travel, lodging, etc)
* That's a total of $7,150 + 1-month personal expenses each.
--> If you are not able to support us financially, NO WORRIES!!
We just ask that you keep us in your thoughts and that you follow our adventure through our social media accounts. It will be a wild ride with the most threatening experience being getting stuck at the border when we try to return. Should that happen we will activate the alarm and call on our community to help us get back to Los Angeles. More updates on this in the coming days.
