Caleb Shrout Fights Brain Cancer

"Well, I wanted to take chance to update friends and family that have been following Caleb’s journey with brain cancer since 2012.
Since finishing chemo in 2013, there have been no signs of any cancer or symptoms. Great news :)
Unfortunately in July 2018 at his annual MRI in Wichita, he found out the scan did show change. The Dr in Wichita didn’t seem too concerned, but something prompted me and Caleb to send the scan to MD Anderson to get another opinion. So, we did, and were quickly called back saying we needed to make a trip to see them.
On Sunday, July 29th we made the trip, then started early the morning of the 30th. Our first stop was the nurse practitioner for his Neuro Oncologist - her name is Jennifer. God definitely knew we needed to start with her.
She let us know that the doctor believed the cancer was back. First step would be surgery to remove the mass. This was a shock for us. The doctor back home didn’t seem worried at all, and his plan was to see Caleb in 6 months instead of a year.
Best course of action from his care team - Resection - Radiation - Chemotherapy
After surgery, he will need radiation for 6 weeks (in Houston), and chemotherapy.
After getting past the initial shock of starting this journey all over again, Caleb decided we should start the process as soon as possible.
So...surgery is scheduled for Tuesday, August 7th.
Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as this is definitely going to be tough.
We know God is a big God - bigger than we can even understand, and he has us.
The great news is that we listened to that feeling in our stomachs and got another opinion, and we caught it early.
Caleb is specifically asking for prayers for peace going into his surgery."
