CABO VERDEAN CONSERVATION: THE NEXT GENERATION

Fundaçao Maio Biodiversidade (FMB) is an NGO based on the small, tranquil island of Maio, in Cabo Verde.

 

We work towards protecting Maio's beautiful biodiversity: from majestic humpback whales, to the peaceful and strong sea turtles that choose to nest on our beaches.

 

It would not be possible to protect these creatures without the strong support and collaboration of the Maiense population, and therefore we work closely with the local communities to also improve livelihoods and living conditions for the people of Maio.

 

FMB was formed in 2010, and now has a diverse team, we currently have 15 permanent staff: 8 women and 7 men, 11 Cabo Verdeans and 4 from outside Cabo Verde.

 

The next generation of conservationists in Maio are ready and enthusiastic about continuing the work FMB has started, however, this requires a higher level of education and capacity building than FMB is able to provide on our own.

 

We would love for you to help us send conservationists to capacity building, further education or to other training opportunities, in order to equip them with the skills needed to be effective in conservation in Maio.

The INSEAD '22J' MBA students spent the last 24 hours in their 'Master Strategist Day' developing strategy for FMB.

The Environment & Business Club from INSEAD today launched a fundraiser for the organization, and the 22Js have already donated, but we need your help!
