DAN THE MAN

Donation protected
Hi fellow riders and friends of Dan Swanson.

As most of you are probably aware our friend Dan is diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimers. The good news is that there are new developments and treatments that can completely “change the game”. The bad news is that they are not covered by our socialized (slow to evolve) medical system.  Dan has undergone standard treatments over the past couple of years, with minimal information coming from the medical system that could provide us with any more information. We're striving to receive more information about his health so we can make the investment to stop this from progressing further and possibly even reverse the effects he is experiencing.

Here’s where we can help, with our contributions Dan can take advantage of these new modalities and fight this thing with all the latest tools in the chest!

Please join me in sharing your financial energy with whatever you can spare, no contribution is too small (and conversely none too big!) Let’s keep Dan shredding for a long time to come!

More about Dan,

Two years ago at the age of 54, Dan was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's.

Many of you know Dan as active outdoors man who loves hiking, biking, skiing, soccer, and above all, his family. But in the last 6 months, Dan had a sharp decline in his cognition and now needs assistance with the simplest of tasks; making coffee, using his phone, using his computer, and he can no longer work. It seemed to have happened overnight.

Like so many others we put our faith in the medical system, but we've had no progress and no improvement so far (and that includes seeing top of the line doctors at UBC). We’ve maxed out on those limited treatments and none of it has helped. There is only one drug doctors prescribe to Alzheimer's patients and it works for 3-6 months. We’re well past that now.

Very recently however, we have discovered a treatment program that we feel very strongly could help Dan recover his lost memory. It’s based on Dan’s ancestry, his DNA, and many other factors. Doctors will be treating his condition with hormones, supplements, Hyperbaric chamber, and visits to specialists. These doctors feel it’s possible to improve and even reverse Dan’s condition! Regular appointments will include blood monitoring, brain mapping and body composition analysis over a 2 year period, along with hormones and supplements, combined with treatments in the US at the Amen Clinic.

Treatment specifics include: therapies based on functional medicine guided by genomic analysis, spec scanning assessments identifying focused areas of brain malfunction, an application of key hormones and peptides and nutrients recently discovered by Harvard Neurosciences that can stop and reverse Alzheimer's dementia, and proven therapies with Hyperbaric oxygen and hormonal support which can reverse an ageing brain.

We're very excited that there is hope for Dan. We want to take advantage of this immediately so Dan can enjoy the rest of what we hope is a very long, full life. We need to start this treatment ASAP to arrest the progress of this horrible illness. Unfortunately, the costs of the treatment are out of our financial reach, but we can’t imagine not trying to get this help for him so we are asking for your help and support.

This gentle, kind, man and loving father/husband has put us first his entire life, now it’s our turn to put him first. Please help us raise money toward our goal of fixing Dan the Man. Any amount is appreciated.

With much love,
The Swanson family.
