Atkinson Kids Medical Support

On Saturday, July 26th, the Atkinson children were attacked by two dogs; a large boxer and a pitbull, while playing outside of their home. The oldest, Kowen (15 yrs old) sustained defensive woulds on arms and legs while trying to fight dog off of his brother and sister. Hunter (7 yrs old) was bitten on his head and knocked to the groud. He sustained 3 deep puncture wounds on top of head and forehead as well as a knot in the back where he hit the ground. Mikah (5 yrs old) sustained the most extensive damage, 9 puncture/tear wounds on her right hip/bottom, several cuts, scrapes and road rash from being drug down the road by the boxer. A neighbor and a family friend were both bitten while trying to stop and capture the animals as well. The kids were taken to Conroe Regional ER where they were treated, x-rayed and received stitches and antibiotics. The dogs have been captured and put down.
As their single mom, Bonnie, tries to sort out all of the details, she is incurring numerous unexpected costs that are taking away from the day to day bills that need paying; medicines, bandages and wound care, lost wages and follow up doctor appts, etc. Due to recently starting a new job, she and the kids are uninsured until next month and is paying full out of pocket costs for everything. She would like for the kids to begin some type of therapy very soon so they will not be forever afraid of dogs.
