My Friend Doreen needs our help. Doreen moved from Ortley Beach in 2011, starting a new life.  She thought, at the time it was the hardest move of her life to move away from the beach, little did she know what was coming. After many test in the fall of 2013, Doreen found out she had stage 3B cervical cancer and of the pelvis.  Doreen went through chemo and raditaion, and on her birthday, March 1st she thought she was cured, the best birthday present ever.  After her pet scan in June and many other tests; she was told she would be starting the fight again, the cancer was not gone.  It's been a very tough road for Doreen, always tired during her treatment.  She is now undergoing all of the test the second time around.  Once the tests are complete she will then start treatment for the cancer again. Doreen; living alone without full medical insurance as she owe $6000 just to anesthesia & more money to other  medical test that still need to be payed. Has a really hard time working, and cancer foundation there did help her keep her home, buying food, paying bills but it wasn't enough, however, it is starting this battle all over again, and she is still behind on bills (home taxes are behind as well) and the cancer foundation help only once a year.  I don't think she will have the energy to work and support herself. The sad part temporary disability disqualified Doreen too.  I am asking you, anyone that knows Doreen to help with whatever you can, every little bit helps.  If she has just one bill not to worry about every month. Doreen has always been a very hard worker and enjoyed working with children.  She was employed as a preschool assistant teacher (her dream job) until government cutbacks in June 2012.  She also worked at the same company 2 different hair salons for over 20 years, a Salon in Monmouth Mall  (which closed in October of 2012), and Ocean County Mall until that Salon closed on( New Years Eve 2013). As Doreen wish she could work at one of company other hair  salon but her car wouldn't allow her(aircondtion&heating system broken plus it's leaking oil , brakes making s noise has over 2hundred thousand miles) now she has no clue how she going to get to her treatments. Doreen was so happy to get a job at Shoprite (summer of 2013).She struggled going to work everday until January 9th when Chemo and Radiation wore her down. A survivor she is!!! Doreen goes for her second biopsy surgery and the battle begins again. Once the results are in, she will start her radiation, chemo and treaments again.....her battle for life!!
