Hi, my name is Charlie, and on December 7th, I’ll be taking on my first ever 50K ultramarathon.
Why?
Because someone very important — Dan — is fighting the toughest battle of his life.
On 12th July, at the Hawarden Festival, Dan suddenly collapsed and was rushed by ambulance to Wrexham, and then redirected to Chester with a suspected stroke.
But it wasn’t a stroke.
Doctors discovered that Dan had suffered extremely high blood pressure, which caused a blood clot in his brain. The severity of the situation meant he had to be placed into a coma and urgently transferred to Walton Neuro Centre, where he underwent two life-saving brain surgeries.
Dan is now out of intensive care and has been moved back to Chester, but he’s only at the beginning of a long and difficult recovery journey — one that will take time, strength, and support.
Why I'm Fundraising
As you can imagine, Dan’s medical emergency has created a huge financial strain on his family. Between hospital stays, travel, time off work, and the unknowns ahead, they need help.
I’m running this ultramarathon not just as a personal challenge, but to raise money for Dan and his loved ones as they face this incredibly tough road ahead.
Every donation — big or small — will go directly to supporting Dan’s recovery, helping cover:
Travel costs for family visits
Time off work
Rehabilitation and therapy expenses
Any unexpected costs related to Dan’s long-term care
If you can’t donate, please share this page. Awareness and support mean everything right now.
Let’s Go the Distance — For Dan
This 50K is the furthest I’ve ever run, and I’ll be pushing through every mile with Dan in mind. Please help me turn this race into real, tangible support for someone who truly deserves it.
Thank you so much,
Charlie
