Skydive for Pieta House

In 2017, 365 lives were lost to suicide in Ireland. That's one life a day for the whole year.  Last year, that number was even higher at 421. For everyone reading this, those are heartbreaking figures to have to digest and unfortunately nearly everyone reading this has been affected by suicide in some way or another. One charity, in particular, strives to reduce these numbers by helping those suffering and helping those who have been affected by suicide. That charity is Pieta House. Pieta is a FREE suicide and self-harm crisis service and a suicide bereavement counselling service that is available 24/7 to everyone.  

The services Pieta provides are needed now more than ever and that will continue to be the case for weeks, months and years to come. This years flagship event - The Darkness into Light Walk - had to be postponed and as a result, the charity is expecting a budget shortfall of approximately €6.5m. 

This is where WE come in. We are a group of people(13 of us altogether), and like most, we have all been affected by suicide and/or mental health illness at some point, be it a family member, a friend, a neighbour, or ourselves. WE have come together with a common goal in mind - to raise awareness for suicide prevention and mental health by completing something that scares us to our very core. We will be completing a SKYDIVE. We will be leaping out of an airplane. This is a daunting idea. But what can also be daunting is telling someone you're feeling depressed, what can also be daunting is telling your friends you don't feel yourself, what can also be daunting is reaching out to a charity like Pieta for help. But you will find help and you will land on your feet. Taking the leap can be difficult but not impossible. There is always hope and there is always light after darkness. 

The Skydive For Pieta will take place on the 17th/18th of October and your donation keeps the door open and keeps this FREE service going for everyone in the community, no doctors appointment necessary so if you or a loved one need help just pick up the phone.

We would really really appreciate it if you could donate to us to help Pieta House. Our goal as of right now is €4000. We appreciate anything you can do to help us achieve our goal, even if you can't afford to donate(which we understand many can't) we would love if you could share our campaign on your stories or let people know about our Skydive For Pieta.
