Hello Everyone! Welcome! I've set up this fund for many reasons. First and foremost, many of you know that my mother has been suffering with lung cancer for the past 4 years. This picture was taken in her honor. It is of all of her grandchildren and great grandchldren minus one or two. The last four years have been a roller coaster for sure. The cancer tumors shrink, the cancer tumors come back. The chemo she has been on and off of the last few years has weakened her body, but sometimes, many times, it has weakened her spirit. We don't think she had an inkling of the courage and strength inside of herself. Most importantly, through all of this she has had my Dad  by her side every step of the way. The roles have been reversed to say the least:)  He has been amazing! Recently, on his way to chemo with my mother, his beloved "Fishtown" truck died on the highway. He was forced to buy a new truck. A financial situation they hadn't planned on. Luckily, my father was able to obtain the new truck. In spite of that, however, unfortunately, there is more to this story. One day, just before Mother's Day, my Dad was cleaning his pool to get it ready for his grandkids. He slipped and fell hard on his back. I tell him the spirit of his brother Jimmy tripped him and you'll find out why I acually believe that in a minute. Several days later after the chronic pain hadn't subsided. He began to hemorrhage. He was worried about telling my mother. He didn't want to worry her. It was time to worry. After being taken to the hospital. He was rushed to Atlantic City Medical Center. It was there and several doctor visits later that it was determined, he had kidney cancer! Had he not fallen on his back, in that pool, on that day, we may have never found this out until it was too late. I told you it was Uncle Jimmy!:) He will have surgery in the next two weeks to remove his kidney. There is no other option. The tumor is too large. It will be a long recovery process. Which brings me to this, being retired,on a fixed income and medicare is something but doesn't cover everything. The new but necessary truck, the copays, all of it is overwhelming! Please help in any way you can. Every dollar counts. There is no such thing as a donation too small. If I raise enough money I will also be donating to Hope Cancer Center which is where my mother is currently receiving her chemo treatments. They are an amazing center and send checks to their patients to off set the "extra" costs. You are amazing and thank you for giving!!
Sincerely, and with gratitude,
The "Lowry" family
