Priscilla Renteria-travel for treatment

Last November, my mom was diagnosed with meningioma. She went to have testing performed on a lump she'd noticed on her head and expected to be home later that day. Rather than having a biopsy, her drs discovered she needed brain surgery immediately to remove a large tumor that was nesting in her brain and hidden under a thick bone growth (the bump she'd noticed). They removed the tumor successfully and after a trying week in the hospital she was released the day before Thanksgiving. In the midst of overcoming the shock her brain endured during surgery, physical therapy, and adjusting to post op life in general, she received a letter in the mail from her employer informing her that they needed someone present immediately and she was no longer employed. All of these things could crush a person but she persevered and stayed strong for our family. Unfortunately, after a follow up MRI a few months after her surgery, her doctors have discovered two additional meningioma tumors on her brain, one of which is in a particularly dangerous area at the confluence of veins in the back of her head. Her case is out of the league of the doctors and specialists where she lives, so they suggested she send her MRIs and case history to MD ANDERSON Cancer Center in Houston. Thankfully they have contacted her and agreed to see her in person and talk about radiation treatments and if necessary another surgery. Now we just need to get her there! We would need to fund two trips: 3 days stay each (1 room with 2 beds) at the hotel connected to the MD Anderson Center in Houston, as well as the cost of gas there and back. It may or may not seem like much to some people to need to fund, but her entire financial world has been turned upside down and anything would help. Our mother is so strong and puts on a brave face so we don't worry, but we know all of this scares her and the financial side of it is something we wish she didn't have to worry about.
