As many of you already know, Ella was recently diagnosed with Medulloblastoma. Her story is below, and we have set up this site so folks could donate to Ella's care and medical expenses. (Please note that all funds donted here will go directly towards care for Ella. Your donation is not tax-deductable).
On July 8, Ella was taken to the ER after exhibiting signs of a seizure. After performing a CT scan, Ella’s doctors found a brain tumor, which was sitting on her brain stem and preventing spinal fluid from flowing properly. The tumor created excruciating pressure in her head (called hydrocephalus), and surgery followed almost immediately. The tumor was resected and a drain was placed on the right side of Ella’s head (an exterior drain device). On July 14, Sarah and Joe (Ella’s parents) were given the worst news a parent can hear — their 21-month old girl has cancer.
Ella was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma, which has metastasized to her spinal cord. She began chemotherapy in Kansas City, MO on August 5, but she is too young for the radiation she greatly needs. The chemo, we all hope, will cure her. Ella must wait until she is at least 3 years old for radiation, but the cancer could spread if the chemo is not effective. We are now turning our focus to helping Ella beat this.
Ella is a tough, brave, and happy little girl. She has been blessed with tremendous care, love, and support from her doctors, family, and people who have never even met her. Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers as we walk with Ella and her parents through this terribly difficult time. Ella’s father, Joe, adds, “We believe in prayer and that regardless of this situation, God is watching over her, and that Ella will win…there are just too many dancing shoes ready for her wedding…it’s gonna be a BLOW OUT!!!”
