Keeping Gracie Bella Home

Near the end of 2009, our family suffered a tragic loss- our only daughter lost her life in a car accident at only 17 years old. Following that detrimentally life changing knock at the door, an indescribable light was stripped from our household and everyday life. Small things like Saturday mornings, football games and back to school shopping became unbearable and a struggle to see through. Life's waves felt as though they crashed violently one after another, each one lacking forgiveness and substantial breath. Finally, as our family, friends and the entire community became acclimated to a glitter less life, the wild flutters of her angels wings pleasantly shook our world in the most unexpected way; a family friend shared that they knew a young couple who were ill equipped for their soon to be newborn. No gift from the heavens comes without sacrifice- ours was emotional. The tremulous roller coaster that came with the back and fourth of the adoption agreement left us with little hope to fill their house, once more, with pink bows, Pom poms and tutus, glitter and little girls laughter. The day baby Gracie Bella was brought into this world, her birth mother's voice was heard at the other end of a phone call, laced with Veronica's special sparkle,"this baby has been born, I want you to be her mother." With only the blanket they bought for Gracie on the way to the hospital, they took their newest Angel home. Due to the birth mother's drug use for the duration of her pregnancy, and her inability to take proper care for herself, baby Gracie's early months have not been without struggle. Our family and friends have devoted their time, efforts and prayers to making sure our very underweight newborn gained healthily. Though with this unexpected miracle comes with so many beautiful opportunities for not only us, but Gracie Bella, it also comes with a hefty fee in tow. The fee will cover legal fees, the processing of paperwork and a mandatory home visit. Without the $5,000. Gracie Bella's living situation, condition and well being will be left in the State's hands.
