Emma Elizabeth Cogley is a 15-year-old freshman at Plainfield Central Highschool, she is also my niece. Emma is a fun-loving, charismatic teenager with an appetite for all things, especially sports. Although Sunday’s are reserved for the Kansas City Chiefs, the rest of her time is spent training for her competitive cheer team. Emma has been in cheer since she was 5 years old and has been competing since she was 7. Her current reign is on that of the Ice Allstars out of Naperville on a junior level 5 team called Twilight. Emma’s post-high school dreams are to cheer on the Florida Gators while attending the University of Florida. Although recently she has expressed interest in possibly enlisting in the United States Army. Look out G.I. Joe, we may have G.I. Emma coming at you!

After months of doctor’s appointment and testing for what they thought was a continuous migraine, to the surprise of our family, on Friday, November 26th, Emma was diagnosed with Ganglioglioma. A rare brain tumor found in less than 1% of all brain tumors. There are fewer than 200,000 cases reported in the United States each year. Emma’s brain surgery is scheduled for Monday, December 7, 2020. Until the surgery is complete and the tumor is removed there is not much more information that is known at this point. 

2020 has been a year of many trials for us all, but it has also been a year of compassion. It is with a heavy heart that my family asks yours for some help at this time. Whether it be a dollar, a prayer, or a positive vibe, we would appreciate your kindness in helping our Emma. #Emmastrong

All funds will be handled by Emma's mother and father, Mandi Cogley and William Cogley. All funds will go directly to Emma and her family to cover the cost of medical expenses. We thank you for all of your support.
