Build Brookings Mountain Bike Track
Donation protected
The Brookings Mountain Bike Association (BMBA) is raising the beginning of the funds to design and build the mountain bike portion of the Dakota Nature Park. The goal is to raise these funds and have two professionals design a trail system that will introduce the community to the sport of mountain biking and will help them develop the skills needed for balance and fitness. The trail system will have beginner, intermediate, and advance single-track trails.
Above is a preliminary drawing of the single track area and skills park that will include berms , logs, bridges and other fun things to ride your bikes over.
There will also be built a flow track that will allow riders to use their momentum to ride around the track without having to peddle to glide around the track.
The last portion of the system will be a track call the Strider Track that will be for the little children that are just learning to ride their bikes and balance. Brookings Recreation is piloting a camp designed by Strider bikes and has already seen great success in the children ages 2-5 learning balance and getting outside to play.
The overall cost of the project is projected to cost $102,000. The $10,000 is to get the construction document and design completed so that we can continue to raise funds to have construction start Spring of 2015.
Remember that you should GET OUTSIDE... and RIDE
Just get ouside and Play.. Lets make this Mountain bike trail system happen and create more opputunities for our youth to play and get outside.
