Saint Stephen's Phoenix Accessibility Project
Tax deductible
Our Rector, Reverend Michael Clarke is a former Peel Regional Police officer. As such he is aware of the emotional and physical toll that First Responder’s service work can take on an individual working in this field. Together with former Peel Police Detective Gary Rubie, and former Mississauga District Fire Chief Dave Connor, the three men run “The PHOENIX P.T.S. Support Group” for First Responders out of Saint Stephen's Church in Hornby.
Out of the group's 70+ members, several have mobility limitations and have not been able to attend meetings because of Saint Stephen's current lack of accessibility.
Saint Stephen's has already raised over $300,000 to renovate our 183
year old historic building, adding an elevator and accessible washrooms. In order to complete the project and open our doors to all people, regardless of physical ability, we need another $250,000.
