Dear Friends and Family,
It is with great humility that I send out this post. A dear friend suggested so and I’ve been reluctant, due to my own sense of pride and/or embarrassment, but honestly I have no other choice in this matter.
So yeah, cancer sucks! This we all know. You have all been impacted by “it” in one form or another, be it your own journey or a family member, co-worker or a friend. Sadly, it’s become all too common and that fact is infuriating!
Unfortunately, the other cancer “fact” we don’t think about (I certainly never did) is the financial ramification. Guess what my friends, it’s very, very expensive to get sick! Even while having decent health insurance; all the co-pays for every appointment, prescriptions and treatment all add up and my journey has only just begun. These costs along with not being able to work my regular hours, nor having any sick/vacation time (I used that up when my Dad was sick), means I’m bringing home less pay. This means money worries and it’s very stressful. Yet, I’m told no stress allowed because cancer loves and feeds off stress! In order to heal and god-willing become cancer-free in the next 6 months or so, I need to be stress-free!! That’s just dandy ain’t it... I guess if I were a magician that could possibly work, but I’m not! Nope, no magic wand here! ☹️
Since I can’t just “make it go away,” I need to reach out for help. After much consideration, I’ve decided to start a GoFundMe campaign to help me heal from breast cancer with as little stress as possible. If as many of you as possible could donate, I believe this will ease some of my financial stress and I can focus on healing instead of stressing about finances (or, lack thereof). Also, perhaps you can share my GoFundMe campaign on your Facebook page, the more the merrier, right?
I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your compassion, your caring and your support in this challenging journey I’ve been thrust into. I will be forever grateful.
